About GameIgnite

Built in Wellington. Played everywhere.

Who We Are

Gaming journalism with no strings attached

GameIgnite was founded in 2019 by a group of Wellington-based gamers who were tired of review scores being influenced by advertising relationships and early-access embargoes. We set out to build something different: a platform where the score reflects the game, full stop.

We cover PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo platforms. Every review is written after completing the game — we don't rush to publish on launch day if it means sacrificing depth or accuracy.

Our team is spread across Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, giving us a genuinely national perspective on the New Zealand gaming scene.

Our Editorial Values

The principles that guide every review we publish.

🔎
Transparency

We disclose how we obtained review copies and declare any potential conflicts of interest before every review.

Completeness

We finish games before reviewing them. We test multiplayer modes, post-launch patches, and DLC where relevant.

🌎
Local Context

We test server performance from Oceania, note NZ release timing differences, and consider our local gaming community.

👤
Independence

No publisher advertising. No sponsored scores. Our revenue comes from reader subscriptions and affiliate links, clearly labelled.
